SHEEO is a girl-centered, non-profit organization in Tanzania dedicated to empowering rural adolescent girls through education, leadership, skills development, protection, and economic opportunities. Founded by five young people with lived experiences of social exclusion, the organization evolved from AHIRD in 2024 and is officially registered under Certificate No. 00NGO/R/6939, reflecting its commitment to advancing girls’ rights and creating pathways to independent and dignified futures.

SHEEO addresses the interconnected challenges facing rural adolescent girls, including limited access to quality education, high school dropout rates, early pregnancy, child marriage, poverty, gender inequality, harmful social norms, weak protection systems, and limited opportunities for leadership and decision-making. Our impact
SHEEO NGO IMPACT BRIEF
SHEEO has reached over 6,120 girls and boys with sexual and reproductive health education, life skills, and gender-based violence prevention, trained 1,471 girls in leadership and advocacy, supported 371 girls to stay in school through scholarships and learning materials, equipped 100 girls with vocational and entrepreneurship skills, and engaged 90 community stakeholders to strengthen support for girls’ rights and education. These efforts have improved safety, school retention, leadership, economic independence, and community support for adolescent girls.
