Our Structure
Welcome to the SHEEO NGO website. We appreciate your interest in learning more about our work. We hope you will join us in making a meaningful difference in the lives of rural adolescent girls and young women in Tanzania. This page explains how SHEEO NGO is led and administered, including its decision-making processes and governance structure.
Overview of SHEEO NGO Governance
SHEEO NGO has a unique governance system that places rural adolescent girls and young women at the centre of its decision-making processes. The Organisation actively considers their voices, experiences, ideas, and suggestions when designing and implementing programmes, projects, and activities. Decision-making at SHEEO NGO is democratic. Decisions are made through meetings and voting, and a two-thirds majority is required for any decision to be approved and implemented. When making decisions related to beneficiaries, all participants are required to carefully consider whether the proposed ideas reflect the lived realities, needs, and priorities of the girls and communities we serve.
General Meeting (GM)
The General Meeting is the supreme governing body of SHEEO NGO and is composed of all members of the organisation. It has the authority to approve major organisational decisions and provide directives to the Board of Directors and, through it, the Coordination and Operations Directorate. The General Meeting is responsible for overall oversight and strategic approval of the organisation’s direction. It meets once a year during the Annual General Meeting or whenever urgent matters arise.
Board of Directors (BoD)
The Board of Directors is appointed by the General Meeting and is composed of members from SHEEO NGO and representatives from the communities within its operational areas. The Board provides strategic leadership and oversight of the organisation’s administrative, financial, and programmatic performance. It ensures that the Coordination and Operations Directorate remains accountable and aligned with SHEEO’s vision, mission, and objectives. The Board also receives and implements directives from the General Meeting to strengthen organisational effectiveness. The Board meets twice a year or anytime as needed.
Coordination and Operations Directorate (COD)
The Coordination and Operations Directorate is responsible for the day-to-day
implementation of SHEEO NGO programmes, projects, and activities across its operational areas in Tanzania. It is led by the Executive Director, who provides overall guidance, supervision, and coordination to ensure that all programs achieve their intended objectives. This organ is composed of staff and volunteers who work directly with communities to ensure that beneficiaries are served with dignity, respect, and integrity. The COD implements decisions from both the General Meeting and the Board of Directors, ensuring that organizational policies are translated into effective action and innovation at the community level. It meets quarterly (four times per year) or anytime as needed.
