Our Pillar of Work
How Our Five Pillars Work Together
SHEEO recognizes that girls’ challenges are interconnected and therefore require integrated
solutions. Education remains the central pathway for change, while the other four pillars address the barriers that often prevent girls from accessing, remaining in, and benefiting from education.
Together, the five pillars ensure that girls:
- Access quality learning opportunities.
- Stay safe, healthy, and confident.
- Develop leadership and life skills.
- Gain economic resilience and future opportunities.
- Live in supportive families and equitable communities.
- Exercise their rights and participate in decisions affecting their lives.
By combining direct support for girls with family engagement, community action, and
systems change, SHEEO creates sustainable pathways for girls to transition from
vulnerability to empowerment and from exclusion to opportunity.
Through this integrated model, girls are empowered not in isolation but within supportive
families, schools, institutions, and communities that actively contribute to their education,
protection, leadership, and long-term success.
SHEEO empowers rural adolescent girls in Tanzania to overcome barriers, stay in school,
and build independent futures. We use a holistic Girls’ Education and Empowerment approach that combines education, life skills, health education, economic empowerment, gender equality advocacy, and community engagement to create lasting change. We work with both in-school and out-of-school girls, ensuring no girl is left behind.
